Day 1-2: San Francisco, United States Private transfer from airport to hotel. With its countless hills and spectacular bay, San Francisco enchants with its natural beauty and vibrant neighbourhoods. Embarkation, departure 18:00 hours (day 2)
Day 3-9: Cruise days at sea.
Day 10-11: Nuku Hiva, French Polynesia, 08.00-18.00 hours and 1 day at sea. Author Melville summed up Nuku Hiva as a ‘land of undescribable beauty’. With towering mountains and one of the world’s highest waterfalls, Nuku Hiva is richly blessed.
Day 12-16: French Polynesia; Rangiroa, Moorea and Bora Bora and 1 day at sea. Seeing sharks at almost every dive makes these islands a popular diving destination. Sometimes a tuna passes by or dolphins are heard clapping just out of sight. Papeete (Tahiti), stunning black beaches are the volcanic heritage of the island and green mountains invite you to stroll. Pronouncing the name Bora Bora is enough to gasp for breath and think of blue water, sparkling white beaches and palm trees.
Day 17-24: Rarotonga (Cook Islands) Neiafu, Tonga, cruise days at sea and passing the date line. Life is relaxed at Rarotonga. Although numerous white sandy beaches invite you to relax, you can snorkel, ride horses, cycle and fish here. Neiafu is the capital of Tonga. The highest point is Mount Talau and the water invites you to snorkel.
Day 25-28: Auckland, New Zealand and 3 days at sea. Also called the ‘City of Sails’. On the east coast lies the Waitemata harbour, a recreational area with small islands where many Aucklanders ‘float around on their boats’. A fine city that has everything within easy reach.
Day 29-41: Sydney, Brisbane, Cairns and Darwin; Australia, Cruise Day at Sea (9). Blessed with dazzling beaches and a sunny climate, Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities on earth. The two symbols of Sydney are Harbour Bridge and the Opera House. The numerous parks in Brisbane show an abundance of colourful bougainvillea blossoms in spring. Cairns is a city with pristine rainforests and golden beaches. It is the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef. Darwin is a multicultural city named after the famous scientist Charles Darwin.
Day 42-45: Komodo, Bali; Indonesia and 2 days at sea. The figurehead of Komodo is the Komodo dragon – sometimes up to three metres long, which dwells only here. The island also has a capricious character, due to the volcanic rock. Bali has it all: beaches, volcanoes, terraced rice fields and beautiful diving spots.
Day 46-49: Sandakan; Malaysia, Manila; Philippines and 2 cruise days at sea. Sandakan is located in the northeast of Sabah. On a hill stands the Puu Jih Shih Buddhist temple with a fantastic view of the city and the coast. It is also the starting point for trips to the Orang Oetan Reception Centre and Turtle Island. In Manila you will find the San Agustin Church and the Fort Santiago, a legendary citadel and military prison.
Day 50-53: Kaohsiung, Keelung; Taiwan and 2 days at sea. Kaohsiung is the second largest city in Taiwan. In the Fo Guang Shan monastery you will see a hall full of Buddhas and get to know the spirituality of temple life. In the large port city of Keelung, you will be amazed by the architecture of the capital Taipei, with a huge bamboo tower as the eye-catcher.
Day 54-60: Osaka, Tokyo; Japan and 5 cruise days at sea. From Minami’s neon-lit Dotombori and historical Tenno-ji to Kita’s skyscrapers and underground shopping labyrinths, Osaka is a city that fits to its own unique rhythm. It is the cradle of some of Japan’s best dishes. Extensive, hectic and endlessly fascinating, Tokyo, the capital of Japan, is a city of contrasts. Sanctuaries and gardens are quiet spots between famous busy streets.
Day 61-69: Shanghai, Hong Kong; China and 7 cruise days at sea. Located on the banks of the Yangtze River Delta in East China, Shanghai is the largest city in the People’s Republic of China and one of the world’s busiest ports. Many Chinese gardens can be admired in the city as well as hundreds of years old Chinese temples. The best place to admire Hong Kong is from Victoria Peak, the highest point on Hong Kong Island: enjoy the vast views and glistening skyscrapers.
Day 70-72: Ho Chi Minh City; Vietnam and 2 days at sea. Also known as Saigon. The emphatic presence of the French gave it the nickname Paris of the Orient with wide boulevards. Day 73: Singapore; 08:00-18:00 hours. A former British colony, now an independent island state, has developed into one of the world’s most prosperous countries.
Day 74-77: Port Klang, Malaysia and 3 days at sea. A city with culturally colourful districts dedicated to Chinese, Malay and Indian communities.
