SOUTH AMERICA IDYLLIC COASTLINES

Follow the secrets of exotic destinations on an expedition to the contrasting coastlines of South and Central America. With the Panama Canal as an impressive finale.

Accommodations

Day 1-2: Santiago de Chile Private transfer to your hotel where you will stay 1 night. On day 2 transfer to the port of Valparaíso where you will board.

Day 3: Isla Alejandro Selkirk. A rarely visited and exceptional island awaits you right at the start of your cruise. Very few people can say that they have set foot on the Juan Fernandez Islands, which are uninhabited for up to eight months a year.

Day 4: Isla Robinson Crusoe. During a walk to the Alexander Selkirk viewpoint you can enjoy the view of the green mountain landscape with a dense cloak of vegetation consisting of trees and ferns.

Day 5: Cruise day at sea.

Day 6: Isla Damas. Your visit to the small Isla Damas, the house of seabirds and penguins, will be entirely dedicated to watching wild animals. When you sail from the Isla Chanaral, you can look out for seals, pelicans and sea lions.

Day 7: Cruise day at sea

Day 8: Iquique, Chili. A walk through the historic centre of Iquique offers a fascinating contrast.

Day 9: Cruise day at sea.

Day 10: Paracas, Peru. With many sea lions, gannets and pelicans, impressions of the animals complete the picture in the animal paradise of the Islas Ballestas.

Day 11: Callao (Lima), Peru. Lima, the City of Kings. From its foundation in 1535 until today, it remains one of the most important cities in all of South America. The old buildings from the earliest colonial times around the Plaza de Armas contrast strongly with the high modern towers.

Day 12: Salaverry (Trujillo), Peru. Two thousand years ago, north of Salaverry van lemen, a Chimú sanctuary was built of mud stones of which the remains still can be seen.

Day 13: Cruise day at sea.

Day 14: Isla de Plata, Ecuador. What you will certainly see is the rich fauna, including the blue footed booby and Turkey vulture.

Day 15: Cruise day at sea

Day 16: Utria National Park, Colombia. The natural diversity continues in the almost untouched rainforests of Utria National Park. Tropical birds, reptiles and land mammals.

Day 17: Gulf of San Miguel, Panama. Discover the green heart of Panama from a special perspective in the Gulf of San Miguel: traditional boats take you to the Darien-jungle, the largest continuous rainforest in Central America. In this varied habitat you will meet the Embera tribe and learn about their way of life.

Day 18: Panama Canal, Colon. The Panama Canal, a legendary structure full of history and stories to tell. The canal route meant a shortening of more than 10,000 kilometres on the New York-San Francisco route. The efforts involved, both human and financial, far exceed the imagination. In particular, absorbing the differences in tidal variations between the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean required technical tours de force.

Day 19: Colon, Panama. Your cruise has come to an end.
