Impressive boulevards and volcanic craters on Gran Canaria or a colourful underwater world and legendary beaches on Fuerteventura? No need to choose – you can experience all this and even more exclusive highlights during your Canary Islands cruise with the MS EUROPA 2.
Day 1-3: Santa Cruz, Tenerife. The capital Santa Cruz has a mixture of old districts and modern architecture. Parks and boulevards invite you to relax and walk. The Pico del Teide rises 3718 meters above sea level, where it has a Mars-like appearance; an almost equal mass has the mountain under water. The natural (pebble) beaches of Tenerife are volcanic grey-black. Very characteristic are the dragon blood trees that can still be found here and there, with a mysterious red coloured resin. Departure on day 3 at 00.00 hours.
Day 4: Cruise day at sea. Let yourself be pampered and enjoy a relaxing day at sea.
Day 5: Arrecife, Lanzarote; 07.00-00.00 hours. Rough and largely bare is the volcanic landscape of Lanzarote. You will get in the Timanfaya National Park a view of the interior of the earth.
Day 6: Puerto del Rosario, Fuerteventura; 07:0019:00 hours. Your journey begins with the island of Fuerteventura, which has the most beautiful sandy beaches of the Canary Islands. Excursion possibilities are trips by catamaran or a (trial) diving trip. Or visit a series of picturesque villages with Canary atmosphere.
Day 7: Gran Canaria, Las Palmas; 07:00-19:00 hrs. The wide variety of beaches make Gran Canaria one of the most popular Spanish tourist resorts. Few visitors have an eye for the volcanic cone Pico de las Nieves; on both sides the landscapes vary from humid and fertile in the rocky north to dry and barely vegetated in the south. The historic centre of Las Palmas has a cathedral and a city palace with a museum dedicated to Columbus.
Day 8: San Sebastian, La Gomera; 07.00-00.00 hrs. La Gomera is a favourite walking destination. Here grow the oldest natural forests in the world, in the Garajonay National Park. It is a green palette of laurel trees, cacti and ferns, and many songbirds feel at home in the park. The landscape can also very well be explored on horseback riding trips. And between the agricultural terraces, a beautiful Romanesque chapel with a bell tower pops up here and there.
>Day 9: Santa Cruz de La Palma; 08:00-19:00 hours. In terms of vegetation, La Palma is the most attractive of the Canary Islands. The combination of fertile lava, sun and precipitation provides lush vegetation. Besides the natural landscape, the gardens and agricultural areas, grapes, bananas and avocados also benefit from this. By the way, in 1971 a volcanic eruption took place on La Palma, in the south of the island. This can be seen in the black lava fields and reddish brown rocks.
Day 10-11: Santa Cruz de Tenerife. Arrival 08.00 hours. You have the whole day to enjoy Tenerife. Last night you will stay on board the MS EUROPA 2. Disembarkation; end of your cruise.
