FROM SOUTHAMPTON TO THE REGAL ISLES

Leave the enchanting English Riviera for the beautiful Edinburgh as your first stop from London. Continue your cruise along the majestic windy coasts of Scotland and Ireland. Along the rugged Scottish coastline are places with an ancient history. You’ll find medieval castles, glittering lakes and green landscapes.

Accommodations

Day 1-2: Stockholm, Sweden Private transfer to your 5* hotel where you are staying overnight based on accommodation and breakfast. Stockholm is a spread out city with many tourist attractions. What you don’t want to miss, is the medieval centre, Gamla Stan, with beautiful facades and lively terraces. The 17th/18th-century Drottningholm Slott is the summer residence of the Royal Family, the Versailles of Sweden. You can have a extensive viewing of the Italian-French-looking Kungliga Slott, with many art treasures. Icon of the city forms the town hall in national-romantic style. The open-air museum Skansen shows Sweden in a bird’s-eye view. And gem for maritime history lovers is the Vasamuseet, with old (war)ships. Departure 17:00 hours.

Day 3: Tallinn, Estonia, 09:00-18:00 hours. On a hill you find the oldest and most photogenic tourist attractions of Talinn, including the parliament buildings. Undeniably are the Russian construction details, such as the Alexander-Nevski Cathedral. The steeple 124 meter high church tower of the St. Olaf is a good landmark. Estonia is now also writing history: did you know that the small country is a big trendsetter in the field of modern media and technology?

Day 4-6: St. Petersburg, Russia; 09:00-18:00 hours, (two days later). The former residences of the Russian Tsars are highlights of this trip. Admire the Hermitage of the outside and choose your favourite art collections, but certainly the impressionists and postimpressionists. The Fabergé Museum has more than many famous, very precious eggs. Maybe you can still go to a ballet- or opera performance in the Mariinsky theatre? South of the city is the beautiful summer residence of the most famous Tsarina, the Catherine Palace.

Day 7: Helsinki, Finland: 08:00-16:00 hours. Helsinki only became capital under Russian rule and exhibits a combination of Scandinavian and Russian influences. It is a city of forts and fortresses, churches and cathedrals, of modern art and architecture. Among the renowned master builders are Eliel Saarinen and Alvar Aalto.

Day 8: Riga, Latvia; 12:00-20:00 hours. Riga, the capital of Latvia, is situated on the coast of the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the Daugava river. After more than 700 years German, Swedish and Russian domination, Latvia, has declared its independence in 1918. The historic center of Riga has been declared an UNESCO World Heritage site and the city is best known for its extensive art nouveau architecture.

Day 9: Klaipeda, Lithuania; 12:00-21:00 hours. Klaipeda, in Lithuania flows into the Baltic Sea. During the Second World War the city was conquered by the Soviet Red Army. The city began to develop cultural activities in the 80s, such as the cultural tradition Festival of the Sea.

Day 10: Cruise day at sea.

Day 11: Warnemünde (Berlin); 06:00-21:00 hours. Warnemünde is a district of Rostock, located near the Baltic Sea in northeastern Germany. Warnemünde is for cruise ships the gateway to nearby Berlin. (Approx. 3 hours drive.)

Day 12: Copenhagen, arrival 08:00 hours. Copenhagen is an old and yet trendy city. Coloured historical facades adorn the Nyhavn. The royal Rosenborg Slot has a beautiful art collection and there are plenty of modern stylised shops and galleries. Maybe you can go to Copenhagen’s famous opera on your free night, or visit Restaurant Noma….
