ITALIAN WHISPER

The smaller towns on the coast and the beautiful islands in the Mediterranean Sea have attracted the attention of travellers for many years, each with their own charm. That is what makes travelling in the Mediterranean Sea so fascinating; often nice weather, atmospheric, cosy places, beautiful nature and culinary surprises everywhere.

Accommodations

Day 1: Rome, Italy You will be picked up and taken to your hotel where you will stay 1 night based on accommodation and breakfast.

Day 2: Civitavecchia You will be picked up at your hotel and brought to the port of Rome by private transfer. Embarkation on board of the Silver Whisper. Departure 18:00 hours.

Day 3: Sorrento, Italy; 08:00-17:00 hours As your ship approaches the Sorrento peninsula, you will be welcomed by dramatic cliffs and flowercovered hills. Enjoy Italian atmospheres in this atmospheric and characteristic city. The sensational Amalfi Coast and the terrifying ruins of Pompeii are among the highlights of this region.

Day 4: Olbia, Sardinia, Italy; 08:00-14:00 hours On the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, Olbia, a city of about 60,000, is a lively small seaport and port of call for mainland ferries. A short walk to Olbia’s small Catholic Basilica is worthwhile. The simple granite structure dates back to the 11th century and the pillars and columns were recycled from Roman buildings.

Day 5: Marseille, France, 08:30 – 22:00 hours Marseille is France’s oldest city and named already in the 6th century BC. It has more than just a busy harbour and the cosmopolitan elements that belong to a metropolis. You will be amazed at the sights, such as in the district of Le Cartier d’ Estaque, with narrow alleys which are favourite by artists. High above the city, on the bell-tower of the basilica, you find the statue of Mary with the Child. Louis XIV built the forts of Saint-Jean and Saint-Nicolas to keep the invaders out.

Day 6: Monte Carlo, Monaco, 08:00-22:30 hours The Grand Prix, the Rally, the casino, major festivals and the fashionable public: sure it’s all there. Sometimes is more important to be seen than to see; but in any case you will be stunned. The casino is bordered by beautiful an colourful gardens, but the lover of exotic gardens will go to Fontvieille.

Day 7: Livorno (Florence/Pisa), Italy; 08:00-19:00 hours Florence is the most pronounced Renaissance city in Italy. Nowhere else in Italy are there so many buildings and works of art from this period. Some of the highlights, such as the Uffizi with the works of Botticelli, the Galleria dell’Accademia with the David, the Palazzo Vecchio, Palazzo Pitti with the Boboli gardens and the Ponte Vecchio are among the absolute highlights of the city.

Day 8: Porto-Vecchio, Italy, 08:00-18:00 hours Situated on a hill overlooking a beautiful deep blue bay, Porto-Vecchio, 25 km north of Bonifacio, was rated by the Scottish writer James Boswell as one of the ‘most prominent ports in Europe’. Day 9: Civitavecchia, Rome. Your cruise is over. Arrival 08:00 hours. Of course you can also opt for an extension in Rome.
