WONDERS OF THE ATLANTIC AND PACIFIC

Accommodations

Day 1-2: Colon, Panama Private transfer to your hotel where you will stay 2 nights. The city of Colon was built as the Caribbean terminus of the Panama Railway and is on the Caribbean side the starting or terminus of the Panama Canal.

Day 3: Colon, Panama. Private transfer to the port of Colon and embarkation. Departure at 17:00 hours.

Day 4: Puerto Limon, Costa Rica. The Caribbean port of Costa Rica o ers access to a number of natural tourist attractions. The mangrove forests of the Tortuguero Canal can be reached by boat and let you come close to sloths, monkeys and numerous species of birds and reptiles.

Day 4-5: Cruise days at sea.

Day 6: Cartagena, Colombia. Cartagena shows a beautiful combination of the Old and New World. The 17th century forti cations, churches and monasteries and the Inquisition Palace are testimonies of an illustrious chapter in history. The Spanish interest was mainly focused on gold. In the historic old town you can walk around safely.

Day 7: San Blas Islands, Panama. Pearly white beaches stand out from the blue sea and green forests of the San Blas Islands, an archipelago of hundreds of small bounty islands. These wooded islands are the home of the Kuna- people, a tribe best known for the traditional costumes of women.

Day 8: Day passage through the Panama Canal. The iconic route of this journey leads through the 81-kilometre-long Panama Canal. The canal route meant a shortening of more than 10,000 kilometres on the New York-San Francisco route. The e orts involved, both human and nancial, far exceed the imagination. In particular, absorbing the di erences in tidal variations between the Atlantic and the Paci c Ocean required technical tours de force. Expansions and improvements are still being made.

Day 9: Cruise day at sea.

Day 10-12: Costa Rica (Gol to, Bahia Drake). You will anchor in the various bays o the coast of Costa Rica.

Day 13: San Juan del Sur, Nicaragua. From a dreamy shing village, San Juan de Sur became a colourful and popular holiday destination, but it kept a relaxed atmosphere. Olive-coloured dwarf turtles nd optimal nesting places here on the beach.

Day 14: Quepos, Costa Rica. A modern city centre surrounded by white sandy beaches. The picturesque landscape with lush green rainforests is a true feast for nature lovers. During a walk through the Manuel Antonio National Park, you will have the opportunity to take some unparalleled shots of sloths, iguanas and capuchin monkeys, just a few of the 109 mammals that can be found in the park.

Day 15: Coiba National Park, Panama. Discover the natural beauties of the Coiba National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Enjoy a relaxing hour on the beach or swim in the crystal clear waters, home to countless species of sh, as well as dolphins and whales.

Day 16: Cruise day at sea. Night-time passage through the Panama Canal.

Day 17: Colon, Panama; arrival 08:00 hours. Disembarkation, end of the expedition cruise.
