Paella and flamenco – experience the south of Spain with all your senses. From the Catalan city of Barcelona, to the lively coastal towns on the Costa del Sol. The Moorish heritage of the kingdom is clearly visible along the coast of Andalusia.
Day 1: Barcelona, Spain At the airport in Barcelona you will be picked up and taken by private transfer to your accommodation where you will stay 1 night. Dozens of museums, architectural highlights and other places are worth a visit in Barcelona. A visit to the Sagrada Familia and Park Güell should not be missed. The influences of the Catalan architect Gaudí are clearly visible here.
Day 2: Barcelona, Spain; departure 21:00 hours. After breakfast you will be transferred by private transfer to the port of Barcelona where you will board at the Silver Whisper of Silversea.
Day 3: Valencia, Spain; 09:00-00:00 hours. You will stay aboard the Silver Whisper bases on an all-inclusive, all meals and drinks are included during the cruise. Today you can start enjoying everything Valencia has to offer. In Valencia you will find the real Spain and certainly no mass tourism. A visit to the ‘Cathedral The Santa Maria de Valencia’ should not be missed.
Day 4: Cartagena, Spain, 08:00-18:00 hours. Dive straight into the old town near the port. Old Town is steeped in history and bustles with life. The Roman ruins here are one of the best in the country and the tapas of Cartagena are rightly famous. Music fans can enjoy the international music festival Mar de Músicas in July and the Jazz Festival in November.
Day 5: Malaga, Spain, 09:00-10:00 hours. The Arab influences from the time of Moorish domination in Andalusia can clearly be seen in the Alcazaba, a sight that you certainly should not miss. You can also visit the typical Spanish charming square ‘Plaza de la Merced’.
Day 6: Cadiz, Spain, 07:00-18:00 hours. Cadiz is located in the south of Spain and is a fascinating city, it is even the oldest in Europe. The well sheltered port of Cadiz is located in a small bay. It is often compared to Havana, in Cuba, which is the sister city of Cadiz. An impressive excursion goes to Seville, with one of the most beautiful Moorish monuments in Spain: the Alcázar Real, the royal palace. The oldest parts are from the 14th century, after that adjustments and extensions were made in successive styles. You may recognize it from films such as Lawrence of Arabia or Kingdom of Heaven.
Day 7: Portimão, Portugal, 08:00-18:00 hours. Portimão is an important fishing port and much has been invested in an attractive cruise port. The city itself is spacious and has several good shopping streets. There is also a beautiful river area to walk through (many cruises leave here). Do not leave without stopping for lunch in the open air on the Doca da Sardinha (“sardine dock”) between the old bridge and the railway bridge.
Day 8: Lisbon, Portugal, arrival 10:00 hours Lisbon is spread over seven hills. Historical buildings can be found mainly in the Alfama district. It’s a wonderful city, where one moment you find yourself in a turbulent street bustle and the next moment in silence. Enjoy the last sun rays on one of the viewpoints. And then go in search of the Portuguese soul, which you can hear and experience par excellence in the fado.
Day 9: Lisbon, disembarkation. End of your journey.
