Day 10: Storstappen Islands, Norway; 05:30 – 07:30 hours. The high cliffs, like sentinels off the coast of Arctic Norway, are a distinguishing feature of this region. In summertime, the grass-covered cliffs of these rocks are inhabited by millions of breeding seabirds. Puffins, razorbills and guillemots nest on the serrated ridges of the cliffs. White kittiwakes and the elegant, ivory-coloured gannets circle around and the surface of the sea is populated by the many floating seabirds. Sometimes you can even catch a glimpse of royal eagles with white tails circling effortlessly in search of inattentive prey.
Honningsvag, Norway; 11:00-21:00 hours. The perpendicular cliffs of the North Cape mark the absolute end of the European continent. The North Cape is located on the island of Mageroey. Although the landscape seems deserted, it is not really isolated. At about 30 km lies the main town, Honningsvåg, with about 4,000 inhabitants. In summer, that number increases when the Sami population and their reindeer settle on the outskirts of the city. Scenic Cruising North Cape.
