This Burgundian cruise holiday shows you the best part of France and Portugal. You start your holiday with two wonderful days in Lisbon. During your cruise you will then enjoy Bordeaux, the heart of the famous wine region of France.
Day 1-2: Lisbon, Portugal Upon arrival you will have a private transfer to a luxury hotel where you will stay 2 nights based on bed and breakfast.
Day 3: Lisbon, Portugal; departure 17:00 hours. After breakfast, private transfer to the port in Lisbon for embarkation aboard the Seabourn Ovation. A great entrance is the waterway across the Tagus to Lisbon. Historical foreshadow is the Torre de Belém, where famous 15th and 16th-century seafarers waved out on their way to great discoveries and riches. Lisbon is spread over seven hills. Historical buildings can be found mainly in the Alfama district. It’s a wonderful city, where one moment you find yourself in a turbulent street bustle and the next moment in silence. Enjoy the last rays of sunlight at one of the miradouros, the viewpoints. And then go in search of the Portuguese soul, which you can hear and experience par excellence in the fado.
Day 4: Cruise day at sea.
Day 5: Gijon, Spain, 08:00-18:00 hours. Besides the important shipping and industry Gijón has a beautiful historic center in the fishing district Cimadevilla. This district separates the city’s two main beaches, Playa de San Lorenzo and Playa de Poniente.
Day 6: Bilbao, Spain, 08:00-18:00 hours. Are you saying Bilbao, then you say Guggenheim. Never before has a single monument of art and architecture radically changed a city. Frank Gehry’s stunning museum, Norman Foster’s streamlined metro system, Santiago Calatrava glass pedestrian bridge and airport, César Pelli Abandoibarra green park and Philippe Starck Alhóndiga Bilbao cultural centre have all contributed to a cultural revolution in what was once the industrial capital of the Basque country.
Day 7: Hendaye, Biarritz, France; 8:00 to 17:00 hours. A wild coastal strip, with rocks formed by the waves; stately buildings and villas in very different architectural styles, from art nouveau to neobasque, but also art deco and baroque; long sandy beaches, ideal for relaxing.
Day 8: Cruise day at sea
Day 9-10: Bordeaux, 12:00-18:00 hours the next day. With the arrival of new restaurants, trendy shops and the opening of the prestigious wine museum La Cité du Vin, the French city of Bordeaux – on the UNESCO World Heritage list – makes a true revival. Bordeaux is the place to be for top chefs. You can also take a bike ride along the renovated warehouses, where now boutiques, cafes and bars are situated. Do not miss Le Garage Modern. Here truly cars (especially vintage cars) are restored.
Day 11: Cruise day at sea.
Day 12: Torquay, England; 8:00-17:00 hours. Torquay is a seaside resort in the southern English county of Devon. It is located on the bay Torbay on the English Channel. The city has a picturesque location and has a mild climate.
